Pastor Jon Alexanian
As we continue our journey through Galatians we find ourselves smack dab in the heart of Paul’s impassioned appeal to understand the impact Jesus had on the world. This week, we are going to focus on the mechanics of salvation. Specifically we’re going to ask, how does trusting in the actions of Jesus’ death on a cross 2000 years ago make me right with God? I don’t know if you’ve ever stopped to question that whole process but it’s a bit odd. But the truth is, when you understand salvation history, meaning God’s plan of saving people which actually starts in Genesis 3:15, the whole idea of faith and the death of a savior make a lot of sense.
If you are looking for homework, read through Galatians 3-5 several times over the next couple of weeks in preparation for these sermons as they will help you better navigate the depth of Paul’s argument and also become familiar with his language. If you do, I promise you will not only walk away with a greater appreciation for the work of Jesus, but also a better appreciation for the whole of scripture.
See you Sunday!
