Galatians 3:19-29, Matthew 5:17-20
Pastor Jon Alexanian
As we’ve been working through Paul’s letter to the Galatians we have dug deeply into the richness of what Jesus did, and the impact that had not only on the Jews, but on all people. As Paul beautifully articulated, Jesus put himself under the Law in order to fulfill the Law. In doing so, Jesus has freed us from the Law! All we are to do is trust (believe) that what he did was enough – that there is nothing you and I can do to add to what he has already done. But as we saw last week, faith is not some abstract ethereal concept, but one that effects us and how we live. But the key is, through faith we are freed from the Law. Meaning we are no longer under the Law.
This leaves us with a huge question then – If Jesus has freed us from the Law, what do we do with it? Do we simply ignore it? Does the Law still have place in the life of a Christian? Well what about the 10 commandments, surely those must still have some role right?
This Sunday we are going to dig into this idea and hopefully walk away with a renewed appreciation for the Law and its role.
See you Sunday!
